I have been walking everyday for the last month and I have loved nearly every minute of it. One of my neighbors has a beautiful butterfly garden and I get to see all of the butterflies flying around his flowers every day. So, with that in mind, I was inspired to create an adorable little construction paper butterfly craft!
Construction Paper Butterfly Craft
Check out this cute spring rain paper plate umbrella craft, too!
Butterfly Project Supplies:
- Blue or white, and a color that coordinates with your flower petals construction paper.
- Scissors.
- School glue.
- Flower petals, I used a rosebud that was wilting. Alternatively you can use silk or plastic flower petals.
This project is so simple, but it is time consuming and will really work on fine motor skills with little ones.
Let’s get started!
First, cut out a butterfly shape from construction paper. I folded a sheet of pink paper in half and cut a butterfly shape.

Then, remove the flower petals from your flower(s). I only used the petals from one rose bud, but you may need more than one flower for your project.
Once you have all of the petals removed, add a thin layer of glue to the back of the butterfly and glue it to the full sheet of construction paper. Then, add another thin layer of glue on top of the butterfly and start adding the flower petals to the glue. You may need to add a little more glue to the flower petal, but try not to add too much glue.
Finally, add some little antennae and that’s it!
This was a great way to reuse dying flowers and create a sweet little flower petal butterfly craft project. This kids craft project would be great for a spring flowers lesson, a caterpillars and butterfly unit, or just to have fun doing nature crafts.
