Supplies:

  • Paper plate
  • Blue paper
  • Black, orange, pink, and yellow markers
  • Pencil
  • Blue twine or thread
  • Scissors
  • Hot glue gun (or craft glue)

Start by drawing a line down the center of your paper plate and cutting it in half. Set one half to the side (this is our umbrella top) and draw a large wide letter J shape on the other half like shown. Go ahead and just the J out, and now you have an umbrella top and handle.

Color you handle in with the black marker. Now take your umbrella top, and make sure the rounded side of the plate is facing you. Go ahead and color in your umbrella top. I chose to do mine in traditional stripes, but you can decorate it however you’d like!

It’s so cute! Now fold up your blue paper a few times, and draw some rain drop shapes on it. Go ahead and cut them out. Folding the paper first lets us be able to cut out lots at the same time. Now cut a few pieces of your blue twine.

Place the blue twine on top of a raindrop, place some hot glue on it, and sandwich another rain drop on top. do this a couple times on each piece of twine, making sure to leave at least an inch at the top empty.

Next you just need to flip your umbrella top over, and glue on the rain drop twine and the handle.
