Hello there! I am one of those people who was not blessed with patience. I LOVE crafts that are quick and give your beautiful results, so one of my favorite crafting products is UV resin. You used to only be able to order this online, but now it’s becoming more popular and can be found at most craft stores. This UV Resin Flower Necklace Tutorial is the perfect handmade gift, and so fast you’ll have plenty of time left over to make one for yourself!
You’ll need a few basic supplies to get started, and there’s a good chance you already have some of them. I recommend Amazon for most resin supplies, except for the UV resin itself. I like buying UV resin in store, because it’s more likely to be fresher and stored correctly.
Make sure to work in a well ventilated area and read the instructions that come with your resin before beginning, as the cure times may be different. Here’s what you’ll need!
UV Resin Flower Necklace Tutorial
Supplies:
- UV Resin (Hard Type) – I love the Blue Moon UV Resin at Michael’s
- Open bezels – find these on Amazon, so much cheaper
- Bezel tape – will often come with a pack of bezels
- Necklace chain – these come in huge packs online or you can use a chain you already have
- Jump ring
- Dried flowers – Amazon again
- UV lamp – Yep, the same kind for gel nails! Mine is only a 6 watt and it works great
- Scissors
- Tweezers
- Flat nose pliers
Note: If you don’t have a UV lamp, UV resin will cure in sunlight in about 15-20 minutes! So you don’t have to invest in a UV lamp, but I recommend it if you’re going to be making a lot of these. The waiting time for each layers to dry adds up after a while!

Start by cutting off a piece of bezel tape. Set it on the table sticky side up, and set your bezel on top of it. The tape functions as a temporary back for the bezel while we’re pouring the resin. Make sure that the tape is stuck firmly to the edges of the bezel so no resin can leak though. Slowly pour a thin layer of resin into the bezel, making sure it goes all the way to the edges. If there are any bubbles, use the tips of your tweezers to pop or scoop them out. Use your UV lamp to set the resin according to the instructions. With the resin and lamp I use, it takes about 30-45 seconds per thin layer.
Once your first layer is set, go ahead and pour another thin layer. While this layer is still wet, use your tweezers to set your dried flowers in. I set a bit of greenery in first, and then set a pink flower on top. Press the flowers in gently with your tweezers, and then cure the resin under your lamp for about 30 seconds. Make sure to wipe off any resin that gets on your tweezers so it doesn’t cure on them from natural sunlight!
Now you’re going to add one more layer of resin on top. This is the finish layer, so you want it to slightly dome above the edges of the bezel. Look at the next photo set down if you’re not sure what doming should look like. Think of a cupcake that pops just slightly over the top of the wrapper. Go ahead and cure this layer as well. Now, go ahead and peel off the bezel tape from the back of your pendant.
Just as how we domed the front, we want to dome the back as well. This make the pendant super shiny, and makes it look pretty from either side. Cure it under the lamp again, and we’re almost done! See how pretty the flowers look suspended in the clear resin? Now take your jump ring and open it up with your pliers, using a twisting motion.

Place your pendant and the necklace chain onto the jump ring. Close it again by twisting in the opposite direction.
And you’re all done! Yep, it’s really that easy. You can make all kinds of beautiful necklaces to give as gifts, and even to keep for yourself!
