Tissue Paper Summer Art Popsicle Project

We are savoring the last few moments of summer. It’s always so hard to let go of the slower pace of summer and move into the structure and schedules of back to school. I think my family could live on popsicles during the summer, it’s just so hot where we live. So, to say goodbye to our long summer nights, we are having popsicles for dinner and making a fun tissue paper summer art project!

Tissue Paper Popsicle Art Project for Kids

Keep these craft supplies out and make a tissue paper flower art project with the older kids, too!

  • 2 pieces of coordinating colored paper.
  • Several colors of tissue paper.
  • School Glue.
  • Craft Popsicle Sticks.
  • Scissors.

Begin this project by cutting or tearing tissue paper into small scraps. This is a great way to re-use tissue paper from gift bags.

After you cut all the pieces of tissue paper, sketch a twin pop shaped image on a sheet of colored paper.

Then, cut out the popsicle.

Next, glue the popsicle to a full sheet of colored paper with a little bit of school glue.

Then, trim the craft sticks to fit on the paper popsicle.

Once you finish that step, you can start the real fun!

First, add a little bit of glue to the popsicle shape. Then, start adding the tissue paper. Be sure to cover the whole popsicle. You can add a little texture to the popsicle by balling up the tissue paper or even wrapping it around the tip of a pencil before sticking it into the glue. We just added little strips of tissue paper to our popsicle, but you can certainly be as creative as you want!

That’s it! I hope this has inspired you to send off the summer with a fun dinner and even more fun art project.
