Supplies:

  • Popsicle sticks
  • Squares of thick cardboard. I like reusing amazon or diaper boxes.
  • Green paint
  • Paintbrush
  • Hot glue

Start by painting one side (or both, if you’d like) of each of your cardboard pieces with green paint. Let it dry completely. Using your hot glue gun, put a generous amount of glue on the end of a popsicle stick and press it onto one corner of your green cardboard base. Hold it until the glue sets up and the popsicle stick stands upright.

Continue adding popsicle sticks, with a small gap between them. Continue working your way around the base. You can also set something against the popsicle sticks to hold them upright while the glue dries. I used my wall to help! Leave one side open so you can easily put animals in and out. Now go ahead and put some glue on three sides of the other piece of cardboard.

Flip the piece of cardboard with the popsicle sticks on it upside down on top of the piece of cardboard you added glue to, and press it down. If all the popsicle sticks don’t touch, just go ahead and add more glue. When it’s dry, flip it back over and you’re all done! Just add in your animals and have fun playing with your custom zoo! Now go ahead and make a whole bunch of different exhibits to house your animals in, and remember to take good care of them. I hope you enjoyed learning how to make this Popsicle Stick Zoo Playhouse Craft with me!
