Pom Pom Candy Cane Craft

When I was teaching, I loved to use pom poms for all kinds of crafts! They are great tools for developing fine motor skills. And they have a fun texture for sensory play. Most of my favorite classroom crafts were made with pom poms and school glue. But, the kids’ very favorite project every year was the pom pom candy cane craft we made. I let the kids enjoy a real candy cane and watch a fun holiday movie while they crafted the week before winter break.

First place pom poms on the paper in a red, white, red, white pattern. This will be the start of a cute little pom pom candy cane.

Then, shape them to look like a candy cane. Next, lightly trace around the pom poms.

Cut out the candy cane shape and add glue.

Finally, replace the pom poms on the paper candy cane shape in the red, white, red, white pattern. That’s it!

Now, if you want to make an ornament, you can punch a hole in the for ribbon on to the top of the pom pom candy cane craft. We used a scrap of ribbon, so I hot glued the ends together to create a loop. But, you could also use a longer piece and tie a knot at the ends of the ribbon.
