Paper Plate Fall Wreath

We love to explore and take walks, especially during the early fall months. When the boys were younger they would carry little tote bags on our walks to fill with treasures. They really loved to collect leaves and acorns. I could fill a landfill with all of the leaves, twigs, and acorns they found as little guys. A lot of the time, they wanted to create art projects with their found treasures. And, one of their favorite projects was a Paper Plate Fall Wreath!

While you are collecting leaves, grab some sticks for this Nature Walk Picture Frame, too.

Wreath Craft Supplies:

  • Paper plate.
  • Scissors.
  • School Glue.
  • Leaves.

This is such a fun project to do with little ones! And, it’s a great way to use some of the treasures you find on family or class walks. You can use nearly any type of natural treasure and the more variety in the leaves you have, the cooler the Fall Wreath will look!

Let’s get started.

First, cut out the center of a paper plate. The remaining edge of the paper plate will be the base for the wreath.

Now that your wreath base is ready, you can lay out the leaves you want to use and place them where you want them to be on the wreath. My niece was preoccupied by her cousins, so her Fall Wreath isn’t very elaborate, but she liked it.

We used school glue to stick each leaf onto the paper plate. We had to be a little more generous than normal with the glue because the leaves we used were very dry and brittle. We added a little bit of glue to the paper plate, and a little more to the leaves.

Then, my niece placed each leaf on the paper plate wreath. You may need to use vegetable cans or books to hold the leaves down while the glue dries.

Once the glue has dried, you will have a beautiful Fall Wreath to hang in your home or classroom!
