We recently took a trip to the mountains of North Carolina. And I would be lying to you if I told you I wasn’t a little nervous about meeting a snake while we hiked. But, I can also tell you that I am 100% in love with this fun paper chain snake craft project! You can also make it for St. Patrick’s Day in honor of St. Patrick getting rid of the snakes in Ireland!

If I was ranking animals I like most to least, snakes would be at the very bottom of my list. I just cannot like them. I don’t wish them harm, of course, but, I also don’t want to see them in the wild or in a tank. However, this cute little paper chain snake craft is one I can easily fall in love with.

Let’s get started on this cute little craft!
First, cut strips of green construction paper. I used one full sheet, and about a half of another sheet to make one snake.
Then, roll one strip of green construction paper into a circle and secure with clear tape. Now, loop a second strip of paper through the first circle and create a second circle. Then, secure the circle closed with more clear tape. Repeat these steps with each strip of paper. You can make your paper chain snake as long as you would like.
Once you finish assembling your paper chain, cut a small tongue from the red paper scrap and secure it to the first link in the chain snake. Then, add eyes with a marker.
Finally, you can use paint or stickers to decorate the back of the snake.
