Paper Bag Turkey Craft

When my oldest son was in kindergarten he LOVED all of the Thanksgiving crafts and songs. He came home singing the cutest song, Albuquerque Turkey, every single day. And even fifteen years later, I can say Albuquerque, he’s my turkey and he will continue the song. But, as much as I loved him singing that cute little song, I really loved the paper bag turkey craft he made. And we still put it out each year for Thanksgiving!

Turkey Craft Supplies:

  • Paper lunch bag.
  • Craft feathers.
  • School glue.
  • Scissors.
  • Brown, yellow, and red construction paper.
  • Googly eyes.
  • Plastic bags or other filler for the paper bag.
  • Optional – stapler.

This fun paper bag turkey craft is a great project for that last day of school before Thanksgiving break. It can take a little while to make, but it is a lot of fun.

First, gather all of your supplies. If you are doing this in a classroom or with several children, you can use one sheet of each color of construction paper for several children.

Now, let’s get started!

Begin by stuffing a lunch bag with extra plastic grocery bags or tissue paper. And, be sure to leave a little space at the top. Now, twist the top a little. I secured it with a staple.

Next, cut out two yellow legs and and a beak. Then, cut out two brown circles for the head. Next, cut out a red turkey gobble. Finally, cut out two brown wings for your paper bag turkey craft!

Start by gluing the beak, turkey gobble, and eyes to one of the brown circles. While you wait for that to dry, staple the second circle onto the top of the bag. Then, glue the wings onto the sides of the bag. Next, glue the legs onto the bottom of the bag.

Finally, you can glue the face to the front of the bag to the circle you attached to the bag already. Then, finish the cute little turkey with some feathers on the backside!

This was a long project, but I really think the paper bag turkey craft is worth the time and effort to make!
