New Year’s Eve is such an exciting time for little ones. But, as a mama, I know letting the littlest ones stay up to ring in the new year is often met with big regret the next morning. When my guys were younger we would celebrate earlier. But, we always celebrated with a New Year’s Eve Countdown Activity. This gives young children the experience of a changing new year WITH a child-friendly bedtime!

Let’s get started on this cute little project! First, gather all of your supplies. This will make crafting a lot easier. We used supplies we already had on hand to make our countdown.
Begin by filling twelve cups with small treats. I used candies or other little inexpensive prizes for ours. Then, cover the tops of the cups with two pieces of tissue paper, and secure with a rubber band and a little glue around the top.
Now, add glue to the bottom of the cups and secure to the foam core board.
Then, carefully write a time on the tissue paper on each cup. You can draw a clock for older kids. Or, you can just write a number 1-12 on each cup.
Now, when you are ready to count down to the new year, you have a fun activity everyone will love! And then, the little ones won’t even care that it isn’t officially midnight.
