Hi there! Let’s learn how to make this May Day Basket Craft. Hanging May Day baskets filled with flowers and other treats is a tradition in some parts of the country, and I think it’s such a cute and sweet thing to do. Here’s how to make a quick and easy May Day Basket Craft to share with your neighbors and friends!

Supplies:
- Scrapbook paper
- Markers (if your paper isn’t brightly colored)
- Hole punch
- Scissors
- Ribbon
- Hot glue gun
- Flowers!
I used fake flowers as it’s still very cold here in May, but if you live in a warmer part of the country you can use real flowers. Just make sure to have the ends in a floral water tube if you do so they stay fresh!
The floral scrapbook paper I had on hand was black and white, and I wanted to add some color to it, so I quickly colored in the flowers with pink and purple markers. This is a great way to customize paper to match your needs. However, if you have brightly colored paper on hand then you’re good to go! Go ahead and wrap two corners of the square piece of paper over each other until it forms into a cone. You’ll have a big open end with a point on it, and the other end will be a tight point, just like an ice cream cone.

Use your hot glue gun to seal the edge of the cone closed. Now use your scissors to cut off the point on the open end of the cone so it’s flat all the way around.
Take your hole punch and make a hole on either side of the big opening. Thread one end of your ribbon inside of one of the holes, and make a knot to secure it. Cut your ribbon to a good length. it needs to be able to go over your flowers and a doorknob. Now just take the other end and do the same thing we did with the first.
And you have a May Day basket! All you need to do now is fill it with flowers or treats! I like to stick a couple of candies at the very bottom under the flowers. You can add a label tag if you’d like, and then hang it on a neighbor’s door to help welcome the first day of May and the start of spring.
You can also hang them around your house as a cute springtime decoration as well. It could be really fun to have your kids make a May Day Basket Craft for their siblings and surprise each other!
