How to Fold A Cootie Catcher Fortune Teller
Supplies:
- Plain or fun colored paper.
- Paper cutter or a pair of scissors.
- Black pen.
- Colorful pens or stickers to decorate with.
Start by trimming your piece of paper into a square shape, if it isn’t already. I recommend using a standard letter sized piece of paper for a good sized cootie catcher. My square of paper ended up measuring 8 inches x 8 inches. Take your piece of paper and fold it in half diagonally, making sure the two opposite corners meet. Crease the fold with your finger, and open it back up.

Now, fold it the opposite way and crease that edge too. When you open it back up, you should have a big X on your paper. This marks the center of your paper. Now take one corner and fold it up to meet the center, and crease the edge. Repeat this with the other three corners. Your paper should look like this now.
Go ahead and flip the whole thing over. Take the new corners and fold them up to meet the center too. Make sure to crease the edges, as they’re getting thicker now. This is what it should look like. Now, fold it in half top to bottom.
Open it back up, and fold it side to side. Open it back up again. Those two folds help the cootie catcher be able to move. Now pull out the bottoms flaps on the cootie catcher, where we did the first folds. This is what it should look like on the top, and what it should look like on the bottom. Now make it flat again, so you can decorate it!
On the back where the first folds were, write four color names, one on each flap. Then flip it over to the front, and write a number on each flap. Open the flaps up, and write the fortunes you’d like to use on the inside. I recommend sticking with nice fortunes, that way everyone has fun! Now you can take your colorful pens or stickers and decorate your cootie catcher.
