Supplies:

  • Thick paper or card stock
  • Black craft paint
  • Paintbrush
  • School glue
  • Googly eyes

Start by laying out your paper on a flat surface. Now take your child’s hand and paint in completely with black paint. Carefully angle their hand on the paper, and press it down, making sure that all the fingers and their palm make contact with the paper. Lift their hand straight up.

Now you’re going to add more paint onto their hand, and rotate the paper. You want it so that when they put their hand down again, the palms are overlapping and the thumbs both face upwards in opposite directions. Press their hand down again firmly, and lift straight up. Do you see the spider now? Go ahead and let the paint dry completely.

All you have to do now is to glue on your googly eyes, using a small amount of your school glue.

I just put two on my spider, but you can add multiple eyes if you’d like! If you don’t have googly eyes on hand, you can paint them on or use beads or whatever else you can find to make eyes.

And you’re all done! I hope you enjoyed learning how to make this Handprint Spider Craft with me! You can have all kinds of fun with this craft by making your spider a different color, or even making it rainbow colors. You can also decorate the paper your spider is on with a spooky haunted house, or a tree outside in nature. The only limit is your imagination!
