Fall Hedgehog Craft

When I was a teenager, my mom had a pet hedgehog for her classroom. Tess the Hedgehog was as sweet as could be, and I quickly fell in love with her. As an adult, I campaigned hard to get a hedgehog for our boys, but my husband isn’t a fan of pocket pets. Since I still think of Tess fairly often, I thought I would make an adorable fall hedgehog craft.

Fall Leaf and Felt Hedgehog Supplies:

  • Construction paper.
  • Brown felt.
  • Fall leaves.
  • Scissors.
  • School glue.
  • Optional – googly eyes or puffy paint.

This fun craft is super easy and can be done by young crafters with very little supervision. But, you may need to pre-cut the felt part of your sweet little hedgehog craft.

Let’s get started on this fun little fall hedgehog craft! First, gather all of your supplies. This will make crafting a lot easier.  Since this craft only has a few supplies, it shouldn’t take long to gather everything.

Begin by gathering your leaves. I used a package of fake leaves from the local dollar store. But, you can absolutely use real leaves or even construction paper leaves for this project.

Now, cut out a hedgehog head out of felt. I cut it into a soft triangle shape. (See the photo below) Once piece of felt will yield several heads.

Then, glue the Fall hedgehog craft felt head onto the construction paper.

Next, glue the leaves onto the back of the felt head. Be sure to layer the leaves and place them on the paper to mimic the shape of a hedgehog body.

Once you finish glueing the hedgehog onto the construction paper, glue a googly eye or add a little dot of puffy paint to the felt head.
