Fall Bucket List Jar Project

Fall Bucket List Jar Project

I just absolutely love fall! It’s my favorite time of the year, and a really busy time for most families as well. All the fun stuff of fall can often get lost in the craziness of back to school, and we often forget to add in some family time on the weekends. I came up with a Fall Bucket List Jar Project that’s a great way to incorporate some of your favorite fall activities into the weekends, and add an element of spontaneity as well! You can pick a popsicle stick out of the jar every Thursday or Friday, and it gives you a fun event to do! Also, I share the things we like to do, and there’s a variety of ideas for every budget and time limit! Let’s get started!

Supplies:

  • Clean jar or container. I like keeping empty candle containers and repurposing them.
  • Popsicle sticks
  • Fall colored paint. I used orange and rose gold
  • A variety of fall colored washi tapes
  • Letter stickers
  • Permanent pen or marker
  • Paintbrush
  • Scissors
  • Cling wrap/wax paper/parchment paper as a work surface for painting.

Start by covering your work surface with cling wrap or parchment paper to create a non-stick surface to paint your popsicle sticks on. Lay out the popsicle sticks you want to use. I decided to have 16, but you can make as many or as few as you’d like. Now go ahead and paint the first side of your sticks. I did half in orange and half in rose gold, but you can paint them however you’d like. When the first side is dry, flip them over and paint the backs, and them let them dry completely.

When they’re all dry, go ahead and write each of your activities on the sticks. Write one idea per stick. You can go on trips, do crafts, make fall foods, or just stay home and play games! Now let’s make the jar to put these in. Clean your jar of choice with warm soapy water, and dry it thoroughly. You want it as clean as possible for the washi tape to stick well.

Starting at the top of your container, wrap your first color of washi tape all the way around the jar, overlapping by about a half inch. Right underneath that first layer, go ahead and wrap your next layer of washi tape, continuing all the way down the jar.

When you get the last layer wrapped, it will likely go past the bottom edge of the jar. Use your thumb to wrap the excess tape underneath the jar and onto the bottom. See how cute that turns an ordinary jar? Now you can use your letter stickers to label your jar Fall Bucket List!

Place your finished popsicle sticks inside.
