Egg Carton Bugs Craft

This Egg Carton Bugs Craft is a super fun afternoon activity that will keep your kids creative for hours. Here’s what you’ll need to make these silly little bugs.

Supplies:

Egg carton
Green, red, yellow, and black paint
Red, green, and yellow pipe cleaners
Googly eyes
Big and tiny paintbrushes
Scissors
Paint palette or paper plate
Hot glue gun

Start by cutting apart your egg carton carefully. For the bugs we’re making today, you’ll need two single egg cups and one triple egg cup. Let’s start by making our ladybug first. Pick a single egg cup and paint it red. Let it dry completely.

Glue on two googly eyes. Then take your red pipe cleaner and cut it in half. Bend the two ends of one half into the middle and twist them around to make wings, then glue the wings onto the top of the ladybug.

Now take the other half of the pipe cleaner and cut it into four equal pieces. Then bend each piece into a stair step shape like shown to make the bug legs. Glue two on each side of your bug, making sure they touch the work surface when your bug is sitting down. Now all you need to do is grab your small paintbrush and black paint, and add on some ladybug spots and a cute smile. Our ladybug is all done!

Now lets make a bee! Take another single egg cup and paint it completely yellow. When it’s dry, glue on a pair of googly eyes. Then take half of a yellow pipe cleaner and bend it to make wings like we did with the ladybug. Paint some black stripes and a smile on your bee.

Glue your wings on top of your little bee.

And it’s all done too! Once you know how to make one bug, it’s easy to make a whole bunch!

We have one more bug to make today. Grab the 3 egg cup section we cut out earlier, and paint it green. Then you’re going to glue on your googly eyes. Next, trim off a small amount of green pipe cleaner, and roll the ends over to make antennae! Glue them on the top of the caterpillar’s head.

Now you just need to cut 8 small pieces of pipe cleaner, and bend them into bug legs. Glue two on each side of the two back egg cups to finish off your caterpillar.
