We recently added small Christmas trees to the boys’ bedrooms, and I love watching them decorate their own trees each year. But, I have to say, my favorite part about them decorating their own trees is them using all of their own handmade ornaments from their pre-school and elementary school years. We all love looking at the ornaments they made with their class pictures throughout the years too. This year, my niece is getting her own Christmas tree for her room, so we made and easy photo ornament craft for her tree.
Photo Ornament Craft Project

Ornament Supplies:
- Red, white, and green pom poms.
- Photo.
- Card stock paper.
- Scissors.
- School glue.
- Small hole punch.
This sweet little photo ornament craft is so easy to make! If you can use scissors and glue, you can make your own. If you are helping younger ones make these, I would pre-cut the circles and photos.
Let’s get started! First, I printed a photo of my niece. Then, we traced a 1″ circle around the image and cut it out. Next, I cut a 2″ circle out of card stock paper. Use a paper punch to add a small hole for the ribbon too. (I forgot this step until after we added the glue.)

Then, I let my niece start crafting!
She used a little bit of glue to secure her image to the center of the card stock circle, and she added a base layer of glue around the edges.
Then, she added glue to each pom pom as she added them to the ornament. We thought that the glue on the edges of the ornament would be enough, but we quickly found out that she would need to add a dot of glue to each pom pom too. She was careful not to completely cover the hole we cut for ribbon. However, you could use hot glue to secure ribbon to the back too.
