Easy Microwave Fudge Recipe

Hi everyone! I’m super excited to share my super secret unbelievably easy microwave fudge recipe with you today! This is seriously a magical recipe that works with just about any flavor you can get in chip form. Wait, what?

Easy Microwave Fudge Recipe

Yes, seriously! Semisweet, chocolate, butterscotch, peanut butter, peppermint, etc! Any flavor found in standard chip form can be used to make this awesome fudge. Note: you can’t use candy melts, those are formulated differently. But all of your standard Hersheys, Ghiradelli, Reese’s chips will work great!

Also note that my fudge looks a little soft. That’s because I ended up running almost a full cup short of chocolate chips! The standard bag of chocolate chips has only about 2 cups in it, and you need 3 for this recipe. So make sure to buy two bags of the chips you’re using!

Supplies:

  • 3 cups of chips. Chocolate, peanut butter, butterscotch, etc.
  • 1/4 cup butter (the real stuff!)
  • 1 can of sweetened condensed milk
  • Aluminum foil
  • 8×8 or 9×9 baking pan
  • Big microwave safe mixing bowl
  • Silicone spatula or spoon
  • Microwave

Start by lining your baking dish with aluminum foil. Grab your big mixing bowl, and our in your can of sweetened condensed milk. Toss your 1/4 cup of butter in, and then add 3 cups of your chocolate chips on top. Note: your butter will melt better if you cut it up a bit!

Yep, you basically just throw all of the ingredients in the bowl. It doesn’t get much easier than this. Set the bowl in the microwave, and you’re going to microwave this in 30 second intervals. You don’t want to overheat the chocolate, or it will seize up. That’s not good! So microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring well in between. It should take about a minute to a minute and a half to full melt everything. The key is the mixing, more than the heating.

When it’s all melted, it should look smooth and shiny. Pour your mixture into the foil lined pan, and smooth it out with your spatula. Now go ahead and chill it in the fridge for 2 hours. Or, if you’re in a hurry, you can throw it in the freezer and it should set up within 30 minutes or so! My freezer was packed with supples for Thanksgiving, so I barely found a spot for my fudge! Did I mention that this easy microwave fudge recipe is perfect for gifting? Yep! I love giving this fudge as gifts during Christmas.

When it’s all set and firm, pull it out of the fridge or freezer. Use the edges of the foil to lift it out of the pan.

Open the edges of the foil flat and set it on a cutting board, and use a knife to cut your fudge into squares. Or large rectangles, if you’re like our family and fudge barely lasts two days before it’s gone!

And you’re all done! I piled mine onto a pretty plate, but we usually just leave it in the foil for munching at home. It can be stored in the fridge for a couple weeks or at room temperature for a few days. For gifting, I love to place some in a pretty tin with layers of parchment paper. You can also tie some up in a treat bag with ribbon and a cute tag to gift as well!
