Crockpot Chili | Easy Family Dinner

Crockpot Chili | Easy Family Dinner

Hello! I’m back with another easy family dinner for you. Tonight we’re having Crockpot Chili. This takes about 30 minutes to throw together in the morning, and it cooks all day so dinner is ready when you’re ready to eat. I always make a huge batch to feed my family of 6, but you can always freeze the leftovers and heat them up later to make easy chili cheese dogs, chili cheese fries, or even chili topped pasta! Here’s what you’ll need.

Ingredients:

  • 5 lbs of ground beef
  • 2 large cans of crushed or diced tomatoes
  • 4 cans of dark red kidney beans
  • 1/2 medium onion
  • minced garlic
  • Chili powder
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • 3/4 cup water

This recipe fills up a 7 quart crockpot, which is enough to feed a family of two adults and four kids for 3 nights! Adjust the recipe to fit your family accordingly, or just freeze the leftovers!

Start by browning your ground beef in a pan until fully cooked, and then drain off the grease and put your ground beef in the crockpot. Drain the fluid off the canned beans, and add those in as well.

Next add in both cans of tomatoes, then chop up and add half of an onion.

Add in garlic to taste, followed by chili powder, salt, and pepper.

Mix this all up, and add in about 3/4 cup of water. Put the lid on your crockpot, and set to high for about 2 hours. Then turn it down to low and let it cook all day or until you’re ready to eat!

Here’s what it looks like after cooking for about 10 hours. When you want to reheat any leftovers, just add a bit of water because the chili will thicken quite a bit when chilled.

You can serve it in a bowl.

Or on top of hot dogs with cheese and more onion! I also like to use this chili to top frito chips, french fries, and even pasta! I hope your family loves this Crockpot Chili!
