Crazy Hat Craft Project
Supplies:
- Paper mache hat.
- Scrapbook or construction paper.
- Mod Podge.
- Foam brush.
Start by ripping up a bunch of paper into random shapes! You’ll only need about 3 sheets of paper for this project, and it’s a great way to use up scraps from other projects. Pour out some mod podge into a paint container. I love using a little square of aluminum foil as a disposable paint palette. Then take your foam brush and put a medium thick layer of mod podge over the top of your hat. Lay down your paper squares, making the colors as random as possible. don’t worry about little gaps, we’ll cover those up later. Press the paper down firmly, making sure it’s smooth and there are no bubbles or raised up areas.

Repeat on the sides of your hat, and on the brim. If you want a hat band on your crazy top hat, go ahead and leave that area blank. Now let the mod podge dry for about 20 minutes. In the meantime, tear up those larger pieces of paper into even smaller pieces and strips.
Section by section again, add a medium layer of mod podge on top of the paper. Then lay down your smaller pieces of paper to cover the gaps.
Now tear a long strip of paper to make your hat band. Add mod podge on the hat base where the band would go, and smooth the strip of paper down. Let everything dry for about 20 minutes. Then take your mod podge and add one last finishing layer over everything and let it dry completely.
You’re all done! I hope you had fun making this Crazy Hat Craft Project with me!
